Visit by International StudentsTo Yarimizu Junior High SchoolThree international students at Tama Art University visited Yarimizu Junior High School in Hachioji on November 2, 2021 for an interna-tional understanding program for first-year students. The students are exposed to different values and ways of thinking to further their understanding of international collaboration. Tatehata Participates OnlineIn Tsinghua University ConferencePresident Tatehata and Prof. Kubota participated online in the Inter-national Conference on Art & Design Education at China’s Tsinghua University on October 29-30, 2021, a presidents’ summit and sympo-sium with art and design universities from around the world. The summit focused on the near future of art and design education, specif-ically, “Issues and Possibilities in Art and Design Post-Pandemic” and “’New Experience Under New Time and Space Conditions.” “Talk de Show” General Education Dept. & International Exchange Center ProgramThe “Talk de show” program was created to provide students meaning-ful information on studying abroad even during the pandemic. Instructors in the Department of General Education interviewed staff members from the International Exchange Center on study abroad motivations and experiences, language study methods, the benefits of speaking multiple languages, and more. The talks were held live online during lunchtime hours.An online exhibition was also held with over 2,000 items submit-ted by over 800 students from more than 50 universities worldwide. From Tama Art University, 28 students in Graphic, Product, Textile, Environmental, and Scenography Design exhibited.Why I Chose Tama Art University: Student TestimoniaI discovered Japanese painting when studying in Japan previously. I was taken by its beauty and decided to pursue it. I got into other universities, but I chose Tama Art University because of the natural setting of the Hachioji Campus and the works of the instructors. I was born in Bosnia and grew up in Croatia where I moved after the war. Studying amid multiple cultures and languages, ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■the fragmentation of identity. I create “god”-like machines that can manipulate the “universe” at the touch of a button based on algorithms and use them to study the pros and cons of a world where machines can control humans.
